EGGS- Two reasons why now is the time to buy.

1. Egghead.com has the best goal of any e-commerce site out there. That is to remain extremely competitive. The Internet is very competitive, there are virtually thousands of sites just to buy one item. Price guides such as shopper.com find the lowest price for you, why would anyone(unless your an idiot) buy from a site that is more expensive?

2. I have learned holiday revenue has tripled their best estimates. Next year revenue should at least triple again.

Have a Merry Christmas!

What's your source, SOURCE?

Revenue has tripled? Says who? If so, why hasn't Jerry Kaplan hit the street with the news?

I hope your info is correct and something will light a fire under the eggs.

We don't know from what base levels these increases occurred?

Except for a takeover, I believe EGGS is dead money until next Oct.- Nov.

Still long 2k shares and hoping.

Tom,
The final figures will not be released until next week at the earliest since the holiday shopping season only ended yesterday. We will see what happens.

Food for thought: Willing there won't be a Y2K crisis, we can expect a surge in computer sales early next year. If this is the case, Egghead is perfectly positioned.

I was under the impression that the quarterly earnings will not be out until the 2nd or 3rd week of Feb (????). I've been tracking this stock since the slide down from 26 dollars & MAY consider buying after the new year. Is there not any institutional interest in EGGS? Wait! Don't tell me! The 5 million shares registered to sell may end up in institutional hands & that is why (perhaps) the stock has been going down? They sure as heck have been blitzing their "EGGS" commercial all over the television! (standard-disclaimer). Good luck!

To All - A Hands-On Egghead Update
1) As a Vendor representative to Egghead (OnSale), I can tell you that rates of customer ordering Nov-Dec were extraordinarily higher than last year. Same item sales were at least double.
Additionally there was a lot more merchandise, in a lot of new categories which were not even there in either Egghead or OnSale, last year. Dollar value was also much higher in many categories. However, the computer area will be the decisive number and I am not involved in that area this year. I do know that general comments are that business was super.
2) To the posting which questioned numbers, relative to pre-merger seperate entities, vs quotes today, Egghead management has been consistent and careful to quote with previous numbers totaled for both companies, including visitor numbers.
3) Comment about the Post Y2K computer buying frenzy which should occur is very valid. I even have personal friends waiting to buy PC's until after the first of 2000. And, we have the traditional "year-end" bonus, tax "write-off", and holiday cash gift phenomenons which always plus sales into the first quarter.
4) Watch for Egghead's superior customer service to be the key factor competitively, next year. I bought from four e-tailers this year, and was only happy with two of them. One, BrandsMall, was totally bogus. Wrong item shipped, and too late for xmas, etc. I bought a duplicate from retail, and then just called my credit card and cancelled the charge.I'll return when they send me a prepaid call tag.
We consumers are not going to put up with bad service anymore than we do at regular retail.
5) The "triple last year numbers quotes" for e-business may even be conservative. Source of data, no lines in stores, and parking lot spaces available. Maybe a little amateur, but still may be accurate. We'll see.
Happy Holidays to all.
Still continuing long on Egghead and buying more in January when finances allow.
Don

My opinion on the stock performance is that it is disappointing. I still think the "dilution" effect from the new issues from the merger, is settling in. I would be interested in hearing from some of the more expert investors what the breakdown is of shares in the hands of Egghead staff, instituions, and private holders, now that the merger is complete. Prior to merger, as I recall, less than 5% of the stock was in the hands of private holders. It seems to me when this is true, and the Company owners and institutions are not selling, it is difficult to develop an active market. It also doesn't appear that many of us are selling (at a loss). Sorry not much to say.
