The EPS on this company looks to be spiraling downward. Next years projections are even worse. Why invest here? Intelligent answers only please. No hype. DB

in east coast of usa higher density is just that higher density-
in NYC RCN is cherry picking the good customers from TW and Bell Atlantic that is they are offering service in large expensive buildings ! right now there main problems are - keep up with demand and satisfy customers that can't get there products right now.

i think profitability will come the second they stop building out their network

In their business, no one is valuing them on profitability. It's going to be done almost entirely on cash flow and growth in subscriber base. No one expects them to make any profits for some years - that's pretty standard in the network build out phase. So, I guess it's important for us to figure out how effectively they are signing customers up.

In the NY/NJ area, they started with rather aggressive advertising. However, of late, they have slowed down. either it's not working - or they are deluged with more installations than they can handle. naturally, I hope it's the former!!! Anyone hear anything to support either view?

<< Lots of news lately concerning the likes of WCII, LVLT, QWST and broadband in general. When is the relationship, in terms of similar business strategy, going to be made to RCNC? >>

WCII, LVLT, and QWST are focused primarily or exclusively on business customers, not residential customers. big difference.

I got in today...probably higher than I would have wanted to. I plan on buying more when funds are available. I was looking for some long termers and this fits the bill. DB

I agree on this as a long termer... bought some low and just bought more today. This company has a great model, but even more so, it ruthless in their attack on the markets they go into. I have talked with people at some of their competitors over the last year and the RCN name is definitely recognized. Hopefully they can continue to execute and make us all some return. One thing I can say about this information revolution... my monthly communications bills (home phone, cell phone, internet access, long distance, etc.) far exceed what they were a two years ago (local/long distance ). That seems to be a trend that bodes well for RCN in their pursuit of income.

HVN, I think today's sound bites begin to answer you question about how well RCN is doing signing up accounts/taking business away from the incumbents:

biz.yahoo.com

RCNC is fast becomming a real threat to the old guard. It's a ground-based war, and these guys are neatly capturing one building at a time.
