ICGX: Major Broker increased estimate for fiscal year ending 12/98 from $-8.18 to $-6.71 on 11/26/97

From Zack's. Probably revised to reflect positive effects of NETC acquisition, but that's just a guess. If anyone has more info on this "major broker", please share.

* Lehman Brothers said that analyst Bill Garrahan raised his
rating on ICG COMMUNICATIONS INC to buy based in part on
expectations for strong 2Qesults. He said ICG to top its earlier
installation target of 45,000 lines, possibly as many as 50,000;
"tops in the sector". Garrahan also expects higher core telecom
gross margins and EBITDA to improve by $6 million. He sees
positive EBITDA by the 4Q(Reuters 11:04 AM ET 06/19/98)

ICG will probaly be bought out soon. They lost most of thier executives to FirstWorld. In fact i think all of Firstwords high ececutives are from ICG. Which includes CEO, CFO and so on. Firstworld is backed by a guy thats worth 2.3 billion. They are very small now but plan to be as big as ICG in one year. With a revenue on 1 million last year to 500 million this year.

Is Firstworld private or public? If public, what is the symbol? If private, do you know if there'll be an IPO?

I see that the majority owner is Donald Sturm, 2nd largest investor in LVLT.

It seems like it's more than "temporarily" not available. I still don't get my emails and I have permanently LOST emails (Mindspring has admitted to this permanent loss of emails). When would you be restoring service?

My Netcom Email works this morning

and my ISP POP access here in N.Y.C.
was never interrupted, so I'm happy.
hell, anything to get away from AOL.

Netcom users with IDs that begin with
one of 12 letters are finding it difficult to
get their e-mail.

Many users of Internet service provider Netcom have been unable to send
or receive e-mail for close to 24 hours as a result of a hardware failure.

The outage began at around 7 PM PT Wednesday, and affected all users whose
user-names began with one of 12 letters (a, d, f, h, i, k, l, n, q, r, u and v). It
resulted from an error in one of the file servers in Netcom's San Jose, Calif. data
center, according to the network status page of Mindspring Enterprises Inc.
(Nasdaq:MSPG), which recently purchased Netcom.

The ISP has since attempted to rebuild the file server, but as of Thursday evening
the affected users could still not access their messages, though Netcom posted
assurances that no messages would be missed or destroyed.

The incident is the second Netcom outage since its purchase, following a May 10
outage which mainly affected users with names beginning in "d."

In an e-mail sent to affected users, Netcom told them that they could still log into
their account, access the Web and send e-mail, but that "you will be unable to
access or read your e-mail through your primary, or any secondary, mailboxes.
Please be advised that your account will continue to receive mail, but you will not
be able to retreive or read it until service has been fully restored."

Angry users
At least one user was getting fed up as the situation wore on and their e-mail
continued to be blocked.

"What happens when the email systems of a major worldwide ISP is down for over
a day and many of its email users are tied to email for its critical business
operations? THEY GET PISSED!" one user wrote to ZDNN. "Even one hour
downtime can affect me and my business significantly."

Mine came up today as well briefly but is down again right now. It's totally FALSE that no mails were lost. I can assure you they were. I have daily emails and they haven't arrived. I sent emails to myself with timestamp on them and they haven't arrived and Mindspring acknowledged on the phone they I couldn't recover emails that were rejected to the sending server. We all know sending applications have a fix number of retries.

I depend on email for making money and I am totally outraged. This should be a frontpage news just like Ebay's outage. What Mindspring is getting away with is outrageous. They don't even have an apology on their home page!!!
