That would be nice but I will believe it when I see it. What I have seen where I have been able to find data is that short positions on a couple of AMEX listed mining stocks I follow have been steadily ratcheted up for months and instead of covering into this cascade down they have been piling on even more. The data is only released every two weeks so it is hard to tell if they have started to cover. If I had a nickel for every time I have read about the imminent upcommance of JPM I would have more of them to throw into the black hole known as the mining sector, LOL.

Speaking of utter nonsense...Joe Kernen startled the financial world this morning when he announced that you can't eat gold coins. I guess he doesn't have any. Mine are full of delicious chocolate, which he would have known if he had ever unwrapped one.

The day JPM reported their lost of $2 billion from trading my trader friends told me that they expect JPM to make a heavy blow to the precious metals for two reasons: 1. to cover their short positions and reduce the loss. 2. make some $ if possible for Q2 to show the world that the $2 billion loss was just a ST judgement error.

But, I think the most important factor is that the Fed has to crush POG to clam down the market just in case JPM's news got out of control. I think it will eventually. <G> The golden goose has to be killed before it turning into a phoenix...

I wonder how much gold Chinese bought in the last few weeks....and wonder how much gold left in US treasury.....

An old friend just sent this to me:

*Lessons on Life** *There was a man who had four sons.
He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly.
So he sent them each on a quest, in turn,
to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring,
the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When
they had all gone and come back, he called them together
to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no it was covered with green buds
and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms
that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful,
it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them;
he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit,
full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right,
because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person,
by only one season, and that the essence of who
they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from
that life can only be measured at the end,
when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter,
you will miss the promise of your spring,
the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches and better times
are sure to come some time or later.

Joe Kernan is annoying when he disrupts interviews with his lame attempts at humor. Joe should understand that one exchanges gold for dollars or other currencies which are also not edible. I expect Joe will continue to deride gold investors as it ascends thousands of dollars higher in the future.
