Just curious--how do you define "read"? How many times someone--anyone--clicked on a post on that thread? Or how many different individuals read a post on the thread? Or some other method? Are political threads included, or just stock threads? It is surprising to me that no political threads are on this list.

Many message board sites tell you how many people have viewed our posts. Is that something we could get here?

To what end? Let's say 20,000 people have a thread bookmarked and about 1/4 of those people are still actively reading it. So everyone on that thread would have their posts read by 5,000 people. You make a post and see that it has been read 5,000 times. It doesn't mean that 5,000 people read it simply because you posted. It means they are following the conversation or just looking to see what's up.

So, would that be harmful? It is interesting to me to know how many actually read what I write. Many other boards I participate in say how many times a post was viewed. They could elect to keep it secret but for those of us posting so we have some incentive to keep posting.

This place is a mystery. What the heck is an activated member?
#21 0n total subject marks hasn't had a post since March 2010.

596 activated members? What is that?

Of the top 10 posters, only five have posted since 2012. Three haven't had a post since 2003 or earlier.

Hard to tell where the real posters are. Is a pulse required for activated member status?

Not harmful at all. I was just saying it wouldn't tell you anything, other than 5,000 people are reading the thread.

If they do implement this feature I hope it will be historical. Well, it's a counter so I guess it will have to start on the day it's implemented. That'd be something though.

Agree. Also, I'm more interested in knowing how many read individual posts I make rather than how many read a thread. If I want to be ignored, I can always talk to my girlfriend.... LOL

Dear Kirk,

I like this idea, and will look into implementing it, at least for subscribers.

Regards,

@Dima

I'm curious how you can tag a post as "viewed" when it's one of the "next 100." And there may even be posts in that 100 that I would rather tag as "not viewed."
Don't even non-members read posts 10 at a time?
