Good Morning nicmar:

I think it can be as simple as asking the questions that you are asking when dealing with any of the companies on the list and then making your decision based on answers given.

Sure, there will always be some out there to deceive.......ABC news has done a service here to get the ball rolling, get people to think before they just spend their money on foreign goods...

I looked yesterday and ordered a pair of carpenter jeans from:

texasjeansusa.com

$29.98 and free shipping..........who would have thought?

Regards,

Bob

There are some pretty specific requirements to use a "made in USA" label.

Could be or possibly pumping the current administration's twenty twelve campaign. Kind of like the Canadian tour bus...tour bus made in America... or somewhere in Canada. What a hoot and a slam at the American auto worker who also makes in America, but more specifically "assembles their autos in the USA... ? Parts come from elsewhere. mo.. nic

Welcome New Cold Weather SI Members!

dungaree, jean - a coarse durable twill-weave cotton fabric

While they are thick and heavy, the loose weave allows easy air circulation, which is nice in hot weather but the frigid cold air in winter, very not so much.

Solution: Cold Weather is here!!!
Keep warm with the brand new Flannel Lined Texas Jean
texasjeansusa.com
100% AUTHENTIC MADE IN USA TEXAS JEANS!

Alternate solution for cold weather on how to get warm...

Just curious and not knocking anyone, but I see members moderating 45, 50 boards and even more. How in the world does anyone moderate so many boards and do a decent job keeping the boards informed and active? .. nic

Wow. I've got 2 boards that are not so very active (semi actively trying to build interest) and with other message boards I check out every now and then, I can't even read one message on 383 boards much less moderate 383 as someone has and do a decent job.

Again not knocking or criticising, but it would seem there would be much more interest and participation on SI if mods were truly interested in their boards instead of racking up numbers. But I'm new so I don't profess to know, but was curious as I've never seen anything like this. Absolutely amazing the work some of these moderators must put in. mo. .. nic

Well, I've got my tent set up and pumped my water, but I am still exploring around the SI camp. As I get more comfortable with it, I love it because it seems so elegantly presented with a lack of clutter. Good job!

Some boards get created then outlive their usefulness. Some boards are relatively quiet because the companies are not creating much for investors much to discuss. As far as I know there is no way to get a board removed. I agree that keeping a thread active takes work but the moderator cannot do it alone unless they like to talk to themselves. That said a thread with an active moderator can help to keep things fresh. I do a fair amount of work on the thread headers for the boards I moderate but I found that the more info you put in there, the more work you create for yourself trying to keep it updated. I try to create headers that are like quick reference cards. I have been criticized for spoon-feeding but I'm willing to live with that. For example:

Subject 57907

Now, I should also say that one of my favorite boards is one where the moderator has been MIA for years. But somehow the thread just maintains its own momentum and needs no overseer to maintain order.
