I think this part of my message may've been misunderstood and I can see how:

We're old and dying off or going broke

I don't mean the site. I mean those of us who've been around since its inception. Even some of us who considered ourselves young some 15 years ago are now old or gone. If we were old back then, odds are higher our current occupation has something to do with ensuring daisies get taller.

Or a beating or two in the market has taken away our desire to participate in a site that focuses on the market that took us down a dark alley, beat the crap out of us, and took our lunch money.

It was a confusingly worded prelude to the sentence that followed about what happens to any population if the exit is wide open but the entrance is closed or restricted.

So what is the marketing plan for the site going forward, given the demographically skewed active poster base?

Short Answer: My problem

Complete Answer: My problem

Nothing personal. The entrance is not closed and competitors and would-be competitors abound.

Despite our erstwhile parent demonstrating a strong focus on marketing, which was costly no matter how closely those costs were controlled, I'm not much of a believer in buying eyeballs. There are other ways to get them and it's always a work in progress.

Our daily new members numbers are comparatively strong (about double what they were a year ago), but the number of new members who are active posters, though growing percentage-wise, is a current project as I think we're leaving a lot of traffic and money on the table there that can be easily retrieved. I won't discuss how, though. I'll just say we get plenty of new members and I'm working on more of them becoming active posters.

Somehow 10 million stuck in my head. So I was wrong, but I knew ad revenue was large. Anyways, 7 figures is a sweet number.

The new header line

-->Total Posts: 27,27n,nnn<--

displays, centered, as

-->Total Posts: 27,27n,nnn<-

when I use ie8 and Text size Largest and Zoom level 100% or 75%,
with the second hyphen wrapping, centered, to the next line.

When I use 125%, it fits on one line as

-->Total Posts: 27,27n,nnn<--

When I enlarge to 150% and all the way to 1000%, it requires 2 lines, and it displays as:

-->Total Posts:
27,27n,nnn<--

Maybe if you don't bold the --> and <-- it would fit on one line with Zoom level 100%.

Just wondering.... April First...
Got this message: "...Because we value your participation here at Silicon Investor, and you've posted at least 50 messages, we have upgraded your account..."
The 'upgrade' brings me from 100 message a day to 50.
Does not matter much as I'm usually not even close to 10 messages on any given day.
Funny, just the same,
alen

You owe me a Guiness or 4 oatmeal raisins.

Apparently daily. I let them live a helluva lot longer than that, don't I?
