Talkzilla is for all car enthusiasts. It has kinda died in the last few months but I am optimistic that Bob can straiten things out and get it back on track

You're going to start seeing a lot more of me here

Oh crap...there goes the neighbourhood...does that mean everyone has to watch a video of you throwing a Bimmer with your tractor into a Lake before a post "takes"?

Nah. He won't have much time for his big toys for a while.

I've been making time for the tonka toys, but spending it on whipping my workshop and some of its contents (like some cars and bikes I want to sell) into shape. And the weather hasn't been tonka-toy friendly. Torrential rain that left the ground muddy then the way it dried out was the arrival of unbearable heat and humidity.

Barely tolerating it in the workshop and really, haven't been as much the past few days until very late last night.

I might've mentioned on Talkzilla but not here that I have a nickname among the local excavation community. "You-Bury-It".

Well, a few weeks ago my mechanic (the one I use for these machines -- they intimidate me) was watching me demonstrate how ailing the Cat 973 was and, of course, it was running perfectly, so he decided to run it for a while.

And buried it. He stopped trying to push himself out after a while and asked "How far down do I have to dig through this muck to get to good footing?" to which I responded "Do you speak Chinese?".

I had to rescue the machine with the trackhoe then spent about an hour getting the trackhoe out of the mess I'd put it in positioning myself right for the rescue.

I called him yesterday and said "Hi, Junior, I've got a question for you." His response was "Who is this?" My reply "You-Bury-It Senior. Got a question for you, Junior."

He laughed at that. I hope it catches on locally.

I'm not gonna even remotely ask you guys to slow down writing to me because of how inundated I am. I'm loving it! Reminds me of the wonderful flood of messages when Infospace laid me off.

I'm sure you'll understand if I don't respond to all messages, but I'll try to respond to some. And saving most for when I can use a block of time to enjoy reading them.

Have two things I wanted to post, though, which I'll do in separate posts after this one, so they don't get lost in this one or with each other.

User Amnesty.

First, Dave and I are so like-minded that if he suspended or terminated someone, odds are high I would've done the same thing.

But in the spirit of new beginnings, anyone who is currently serving a long suspension or is terminated, and you want back on, please email me at bobz@talkzilla.com and I'll review each one on an individual basis and will lean toward leniency, with the most important factor being whether I feel that if I let you back on, you're not practically guaranteed to go right back to doing whatever got you terminated.

Investing in SI.

Surprisingly, I've gotten quite a few queries about whether I want or would take investments into the site.

I'm not allergic to money by any means, but my blanket answer is that I might consider it, maybe, but one thing to consider that I think would likely change the minds of anyone expressing interest is that I am NOT planning to flip the site for some multiple of what I paid for it. Again.

Plans can and do change, but my plan right now is to get things going the way I want them, and have the site making enough that eventually I can hire people to run it, and retire with at least majority ownership and leave it at that.

I'll respond to those queries later individually, but in the meantime that's the situation and the plan.
