Agree that he's the visual pro around here and we're damned lucky to have his services available. But things still have to be done at my pace. What he provides is mockups that're strictly html and I use them as a visual template when writing the asp.net code to produce them, and his css (implemented quite a bit different here) is a lookup reference for when I need the answer to a question like "Okay, what's the background color he's using in this part?"
Now that I have this reference to work with and an idea what we're shooting for, I can incorporate the same changes to other pages where needed. For example, I won't need his input directly on the message-navigation stuff because now that I see how it *should* look, I "get it", and can incorporate the same approach elsewhere, including Investors Hub later.
iHub will be waiting a while, though. A higher priority for me is to rewrite iHub as ASP.NET (like I'm using for SI) and some database structure changes. Won't take nearly as long as the SI rewrite did, but it's still a huge project that'll take a lot of time because so much of it will have to be done from scratch. Too many inherited inefficiencies. Not only what I inherited, but what I created while I was learning the language.
Since you and Bill are pretty close, I assume you're aware of Talkzilla and how we're finally getting a little closer to rolling it out? |
