You're right and they aren't coming. Why else do you think this dog is such a POS? Where are you Tajen when we need you most?

The news of @Home wiring their campus with fiber optics seems to blow by many on the thread. I haven't seen any numbers regarding the speed of fiber vs. coaxial in actual practice. The same management team that many are complaining about at least has the technological vision to try something new. Fiberoptics@home could be another stepping stone that ATHM may capture quietly.

Yes, but then they bought Excite late spring. The confusion as to whether this was a transport company or a media company ensued. ATHM is claiming to be a media company, and the market has weighed in with its report card on that claim.

The lack of critical thinking is endemic to these boards, you mistake correlation with causation. I can think of 3 reasons for the stock to drop exclusive of the excite purchase.

You blame management to support your thesis that ATHM needs AOL's marketing expertise. Yet when faced with the fact that ATHM derives a greater percentage of their revenue from e-tail than AOL - you are no where to be found to refute that assertion.

Your comments reveal your laziness. So be it.

Good trading to you, and a peaceful new year!

Same to you.

Junior,

Why would I tie my bill paying to my bank? My bill paying service works for all my bills and I can tell my bank to pound salt when they try to screw me. I am a liberated consumer and you are tied like Gulliver to your bank.

I'll continue to yell at buckets until @Home allows me to give them money. Which by the way will be cheaper than your DSL line.

Why do you keep bringing AOL into this conversation? And I am not aware of the "fact" you assert regarding the percentage of revenue attributable to e-tail. I will go back and read more of the messages here, but it is a mistake to assume that I have seen it and not responded because I agree with it.

I don't believe ATHM needs AOL to be successful. Frankly, I think a better fit would be Yahoo and ATHM. And I say that even though I have a stake in AOL and not in Yahoo.

Finally, you do yourself no favors by resorting to invective. I did not do so with you. You will have to learn not to dismiss those who disagree with you as being lazy or incapable of critical thinking. Draw a wider circle around yourself, not a smaller one.

Best holiday wishes,
Islander99

My bill paying system also works for all of my bills. You should pick a better bank. Mine doesn't try to screw me.

True I pay more for DSL than you will...some day pay for @home, but I will have saved hours of online time while you wait for the service and the web pages.

Isn't DSL available in your area. May as well get it while you wait. @home won't be in my neighborhood for over a year.

I am only joking with you KB. I loved your bucket story.

My post:
That wasn't my question, but it's a nice report. As you said in your previous post "it's about money". So please elaborate on how cutting a deal, as you put it, with AOL leads to a revenue increase for ATHM.

Your reply:
Well, for one thing, putting marketers in charge would be one way to increase the amount of installation teams setting up new cable modem customers. Think back to AOL's crisis of busy signals. It decided that this customer issue was not going to bring the company down, and it spent what it needed to spend to vastly improve phone modem access. My opinion, as an ATHM and AOL customer, and an ATHM and AOL investor, is that ATHM could use more customer orientation, such as that AOL has consistently displayed, and yes, that would lead to a revenue increase for ATHM.

Actually it's those that simply give up that are lazy. Are you listening Rascal, yellowfintuna, and CGarcia. Why post here if not to exchange, debate, and learn; oh ya, to pat each other on the butt and say way to go.

There seems to be a little friction on the thread today. Everyone should be happy! We ended trading in the green! It's enough to bring a tear from a glass eye. Gosh...I hope no one has a glass eye! Besides being old, Grace, do you have a glass eye, too? <ggg>

The following link is compliments of athm_long on the Yahoo ATHM thread. It basically discusses the future arrangement with MSFT that was announced a short while ago:

Enjoy!

I had a proof, but it ended up being infinitely long, thereby disproving itself.
