TDFX withdrawal basically.. hehe im 100% married to this one and determined to see it blast past 30.. and I GOTTA be a part of it, not just a spectator..

Id love to hear what the t/a people have to say about this insane chart as well..

You stuck it out thick/thin eh Joe? I saw it in the 20s last week and that sparked my interest.. Getting that short position out of the way was like removing a thorn.. With earnings just around the corner, and a new product signed/sealed/delivered and selling like hot cakes, I see no reason for us not to blow past 30..I cant imagin anyone taking a serious short position at this point, and in a hurting sector TDFX will shine real soon I hope :)

17 1/2 for me. Could go lower but im pretty comfortable at this price. Your stuck with me for a few months now but I wont be following in day/day since im trying to learn how to just ignore these things ...

anyhow- good luck as usual!

Gee we talk a lot! I just finished reading the recent posts on the NVDA thread in search of recent scoop on NVDA. There has been the grand total of 19 posts there since Feb. 14. In contrast, we were at 11775 on Feb. 14, so you can do the math yourself <g> Anyway, I did not find anything useful to help me decide the pair trade, so any info is helpful.

OT: Sun,Great concept.

I suspect the recent downtrend in NVDA is because of the release of 5 million insider shares a couple of days ago. Once the rest are unloaded the extra shares will hang around this stock like a pair of cement shoes.

I'd be there with you, but I put all my funny-money into Hasbro. Hit another all-time high today <yawn>.

May the force be with you!

Pat

P.S. Got all the STBI I could ever want for 11 1/2. Anyone out there want to volunteer to tell my wife if the merger flops? She's already mentally bought a nice new Lexus.

Every time I try and short NVDIA, Waterhouse tells me that they don't have any shares available. I've tried three times (all between $19 and $20). I'm really curious just how well their TNT2 launch will be going and I haven't heard anything about the Vanta other than one cardmaker saying they're making a board based on it.

When I look at the market, S3 seems to be going for the price-based low-end, ATi's Rage Pro will be threatened by the 810 chipset from Intel (did anyone else notice they're clocking their Mac Rage Fury @ 75 mhtz?), and TNT2 seems rather expensive without good branding for the OEM market. I think that the OEM's are in a sweet spot right now. Most of the new releases are fairly close in specs and all the chipmakers want as much OEM business as possible.

I like 3dfx and ATi here. 3dfx has a strong retail presence so the OEM market is not as crucial to them. ATi and 3dfx are both pretty strong companies.

Since I'm up at this crazy hour, I decided to check around. AGN3d is reporting that Micron will be using the TNT2 for their computers and that the cardmakers for the TNT2 have said that they should be shipping in a week or so and that yields are good enough such that Ultra's will be in ok supply.

Anandtech changed their look (no other real changes).

A few months ago, Sharky Extreme reported that Metabyte had a new technology that allowed two videocards to link together in an SLI-like manner. The reporting was filled with speculation that the TNT2 cardmakers would be using this technology to make extreme versions of their cards that would far surpass anything available. I'd been reading Sharky's site for a while and bought into the hype a little at the time (you can see it in my posts and Chip was the most sceptical at the time). I later had more time to research and think about the technology and decided it wasn't a big deal after all.

Well, the "user" of the technology has just been reported on. Alienware (a gaming PC OEM - fiarly small) has licensed the technology so that they can exclusively use it for their PC's. Voodoo3 is actaully mentioned as a good possibility here.

Yawn. More hype while 3dfx executes.

There is a new Gary Tarolli interview on Beyond 3D:

beyond3d.com

Informative but not exciting. The good news is that the OpenGL ICD will be available "Soon, very soon. We have already announced plans for our BETA program."

There is also a typically reserved hint at a new product.

"22. If you could go back and make one change to the Voodoo3, what would it be?

That will be answered when we announce our next product :-) "

Maybe this info is effecting TDFX's price. What do you make of the last paragraph. You may not like it - but INTC 3-D on the board needs to be considered as a threat, doesn't it?

Intel Unveils Fastest Celeron Chip, New Chip Set
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Semiconductor maker Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - news) introduced its fastest chip yet for the low end of the PC market, a Celeron chip running at 466 megahertz, in an ongoing drive to gain market share in the low-cost consumer segment.

Intel also launched a chipset to work with the Celeron, adding more functions and reducing the overall cost of a PC motherboard, the main board of a personal computer.''We are deadly serious about this segment,'' said Paul Otellini, executive vice president and general manager of Intel's architecture business group, at a press briefing. ''We are very, very cognizant that this is where the growth is.''

The chipset, called the Intel 810 chipset, integrates three dimensional graphics and enables software-based audio, modem and digital versatile disk functions that would typically require additional add-in cards.

Well the ride has been fun. But now that you're back it is time to go.

You have a great track record as being a contrary bull indicator for this stock.
