James, re your first question: look into any portfolio and tell me which stock is NOT falling today. Re the second question: WDC is down, HMT down as well -- cost of production was cited as the reason, demand. is still pretty high for the disk sector. Here is the opportunity for STMD to get in. That is why I did not sell this stock today. On the contrary, I think it is time to average down. I may be wrong, but I saw some big volumes on the buy side. There is not much downside for this stock, that's my feeling.

Thanks Jim, for the reply:

Looks like this stock has droped lower today.
I hope this is due only to some holders getting out because of
income tax purposes.
STMD may bounce back up abit after this Nov. and Dec. bail-out.

According to Historical Pricing, this stock has'nt been this low
in quite a while.

Ouch!

I'm still keeping an eye on this stock, don't have any, nor have I sold short.

Looks like the WDC news APM etc. just ate this stock.

To those of you who are long, I am sorry to see this.

James, everything is being exagerated these days. Disk sector is almost wiped out of the earth. Well, SEG up 11/16 at this point. People almost forgot that they need hard drives!

Lou,

According to yesterdays news. We still have a chance for a
good pop. Since business fluctuates for Stormedia, I believe
this stock will rise from the dead again.

STMD down today on a rumor that they lost another customer. Hit the Dow Jones news service about noon.

Thomas,

Who did STMD loose this time?
Where can I find some of the detail of what happened?
I've got quite a bit tide up with this company.
I still hope it springs back up a bit.

Hi, it's a Dow Jones news service release dated yesterday.

It's fairly complex and does not appear (IMO) to have anything intrinsic to do with STMD quality, etc..

Good luck you guys,

Ed

Can anyone posted briefly the Dow Jones news? I have a buddy who told me to get rid of my heavy load in this stock. He said the company is to go bankrupt(sic). For sure, I read that Micropolis closed down last Monday and still don't know if it was a client of stmd. May be that is the reason for the dip.

Micropolis bit the dust. Layed off over roughly 1200 people. I think this is the company that was using STMD and might account for more distress for the stock.
