Thanks for the post on ADCT--I'm pretty much locked in to reading
everything I can get my hands on without direct experience in the
field. Ask me about steel or minerals and I can guarantee to bore
you for hours--you know--old foggies like to relive their experiences
and the retelling gets better each time its repeated.

My son really seems to know the field and is giving me technical
advice--so his input about the sound quality of analogue vs digital
will be explored further--but only after I talk with my grandaughters.

ADCT up strong today against the backdrop of a falling market. It has been strong for the last few days. They announced a relationship with GTE.

Looks pretty good to me.

Maurice, do you have any expertise in Potash? I have been looking at Potash Corp., a Canadian fertilizer company that was mentioned in a recent Forbes article.

AT&T really seems to be upping the ante with its advertising here in Chicago--todays paper and on radio all promoting its digital wireless
system. Not to be outdone the Prime Co. is offering 600 minutes per
month at a cost of $59.99 and a $50 rebate on their digital phone.

MCI will give you 12 months of free weekends plus a Motorola phone &
pager for $1--requires a two year contract and you have to call for
the details like the cost per month (strange add and since they didn't
mention digital I assume its analogue).

Now AT&T will give me 30 minutes of residential long distance each month for a year if I sign up--the radio add had two gals in an airport terminal the second gave the tel. # of the first because her
analogue phone would not work in the terminal--the first was working with her laptop computer receiving data while the other twiddled her thumbs--
you get the idea. Can't find out who wanted to give the bicycle away--hope this filters down to something real--like maybe a few buck
per share.

MCI may be promoting analog since they're waiting for NextWave (Block C provider) to build their infrastructure. Good insight on your part by not seeing digital mentioned in the ad.

Sprint PCS is also building in Chicago, but don't know if they've turned on their system yet.

Try to get a copy of Tuesdays (Sept. 02, 1997--out today to subscribers). Interview with CEO of NEXTEL--company will be a
bidder on next auction in October of frequency licenses--company
will be expects to continue to expand its system--company bleeding
money--not profitable till after 2000, etc.

What I got out of it is the guy with the deepest pockets will be the
winner--I suggest that may be AT&T (my guess on guts only--no data).

Thanks for the information. I missed the news due to the holiday weekend. I laid aside the financials and went to the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears game. I had to cheer for Green Bay since everyone in the stadium was wearing green and gold. A good game in the second half.

I agree about the deep pockets. I think Sprint and PrimeCo will also do very well. Regarding Nextel, I think it will survive with Craig McCaw in there. He made his money with McCaw Cellular when he sold it to AT&T Wireless. I doubt if he wants to lose all his hard-earned money.

I haven't kept up with the Block C licensees NextWave or Pocket Communications. I've been too busy building for the Block A&B providers. There's a PCS tradeshow in Dallas next week. Maybe I can find out some more info.

You made real good sense till you started on the game--first half--a game--second half a disaster!!

By the way--AT&T now running TV commercials to promote their digital
telephony here at the center of the UNIVERSE (CHICAGO). Sould start to get interesting in the next two quarters--
someone is going to get hurt--that's why I like ANDW--think it is the
safest play for this industry.
