Brendan, thanks. Very interesting stuff. Are these figures available on the web or are you a subscriber?

On the console side (TRSTS), I see that TR III is right behind NWO/Revenge, which I estimate sold 500,000-600,000.

As for TR and the Mac, I have a feeling that PC Data doesn't cover much mail order. In fact, I have a feeling they don't cover Mac-only stores either. A huge portion of the Mac sales come from these two sources.

Daikatana Deathmatch Demo for North America

Jeff Groteboer, the localisation director at ION Storm, has sent word that the
February Daikatana deathmatch demo is for North American audiences.
Groteboer says it will not support European font characters or keyboards.
ION is planning European deathmatches for later this Spring, so fans should
keep checking the ION web site for news.

This detail requires being a subscriber. General top 10 / top 20 is available free from the www.pcdata.com website.

In November, TR3 was the top selling PSX game (falling to #2 in December). Overall, it was #3 and #5 respectively (N64 titles selling more). I don't have detail reports for console games though.

>> As for TR and the Mac, I have a feeling that PC Data doesn't cover much mail order. In fact, I have a feeling they don't cover Mac-only stores either. A huge portion of the Mac sales come from these two sources.

PC Data covers a lot of mail order in its mix, but I don't know if that percentage is high or low. They may not get many Mac-only stores, although they do cover Mac Connection, MacMall, MacWarehouse, and MacZone. The complete list of retailers (stores and mail) consists of 48 companies, representing an estimated 80% of the retail market. The complete list can be found on their site / about our reports / software reports / retail report.

Marc,

I gather we are very close to the earnings report. When can we expect to see it? EIDSY showing good strength - but on very slim volume. Hope volume picks as we cross the $20.00 barrier.

Brian, I seem to remember that earnings are on the 25th. Unfortunately, THQ earnings are also that day and I like that stock more at this time. If EIDSY had dipped from this latest correction I would've been able to buy back in but it has held strong.

It's the low volume that always makes me a bit wary about this stock. Sometimes to my detriment.

25th is suppose to be Quarterly Earnings

I suggest you prepare to sell BEFORE
earnings report as the price is building
in a good showing up to the actual news.

after earnings, shareholders have little
to look forward to till next Xmas, so
historically for EIDSY it's best to
take your profits in the next few weeks.

Most have been with this stock since
it was below $14, so selling in the
low to mid 20's should be attempted.

Those are my feelings too, except for the possible Daikatana kicker. Ie, if there are positive comments about it in the cc the stock could maybe run a bit further.

Btw, a Mac version of Daikatana was announced by Romero last week, though it will come well after the PC, PSX, and N64 versions.

Daikatana is nearly $30mil in the hole

for it's profitablility to matter
much to EIDSY now. no reason to
hold your breath for that one,
IMHO

Actually, there is quite a bit to look forward to: TR2 in PSX greatest hits line, Gex3, Soul Reaver, Commandos:(whatever), Braveheart, Warzone2100. Eidos has NEVER had such a sweet looking lineup. I love everything they are doing (with the exception of having ANYTHING TO DO WITH ION STORM). This company has proven that it can put out a bunch of solid games, recruit good developers, maintain a franchise, market, and diversify profits.

That said, I tend to agree that while I feel the stock should continue to rise, the reality is that it will probably peak shortly after earnings. They need more coverage of this baby...
