I pick the Diamondbacks to win the NL West.

The LA California Angels of Anehiem will win it all in 2012, if healthy. Just look at their lineup.

Toronto will surprise in the AL and make the post season.

Colorado and Washington (will Harper arrive?) are on the rise in the NL.

My Oakland A's will be fun with super studly Cespedes from Cuba, and speed on the bases leadoff thru cleanup. .500 would exceed Las Vegas over/under by about 7 games. Almost all new starting pitching; a mystery. We still don't know who our numero uno first and third baseman will be.

JMHO, will visit it again July-ish.

I feel bad for Yankee fans, Rays had to go and beat them in the bottom of the ninth.

Wait, are you saying it's baseball season already? And the Yankees played who?

On a serious note, I have no worries Mariano will be Mariano. The team that should really be worried is the Red Sox with Alfredo Aceves.

Strasburg was impressive in the Nats opener. They seem like a really fun team to root for this year. The Mets, OTOH, because of their owner, you have to force yourself to embrace.

One down, 161 games to go.

BTW, you do know that when Kentucky wins March Madness the odds are astronomically in favor of the Yankees also winning. I'm too lazy to document that at the moment, but trust me on that.

Mariano might be wearing down, finally.

Remember when steinbrenner didn't want to give him a LT contract. Mariano proved him wrong.

Snakes do it again today with identical score as yesterday, a 5-4 win. Series win #1 now in the books.

Cespedes is a young and healthy Bo Jackson, or Vladimir Guerrero in his best years. Long powerful Ted Williams swing, more controlled than Vlad. Get your kids and grandkids and go see him. Learn a few warm friendly words of Cuban Spanish dialect and get his autograph before the game, he seems shy and focused.

Oakland fans have nicknamed him the "Cuban Missile" which shows a lack of historical knowledge, hopefully a better nickname will emerge.

Yoenis is struggling right now to lay off hard breaking balls in the dirt or low-and-away, as many new to to MLB do-- not ironically, facing nasty righties like King Felix who has started two of the four games played by the A's..

He hit last night's bomb in a situation later in the game with two on base and the tying run on deck, so we knew they would pitch to him. They did, he hit a three run homer, and Seattle won the game by the one run margin.

Scoring six runs and losing at home to Seattle, playing sloppy defense again, probably made for a pretty ugly clubhouse in Oakland. Rare Sunday off-day today due to the Tokyo "home games" in March. Young talented Kansas City is next, they whipped the Halos last night.

I'm probably the only one here who cares about the A's; but everyone is starting to ask about Cespedes.
