Dear T: Also off TOPIC re: OCOM

Can you explain why they have retraced their recent gains? Is there some doubt that the trial equipment that has not been booked as sales is going to come back in their face? Or are they have a hard time marketing their supposedly superior technology because of the din in the marketplace? It would seem if their equipment is so superior that it should be selling like hot cakes but alas someone out there thinks other wise. Nevertheless I have a fairly large position measured in the 1000's of shares and would like to know if their are others out there who know more about this stock and its prospects.

<..but a short squeeze none the less. I promise you every short was squeezed on Friday, but you are right this probably won't cascade upward for days just based on a rolling short..>

With 500K short and 9.2MM traded friday, the shorts MAYBE were a 1-2 point blip on this 15pt jump.

My point is, on GOOD news, a MAJOR short position like YURI gets REALLY squeezed, as they buy in competion with the adding and NEW longs (how large is ML's force - 15K?). I think a 10-15 point up day for YURI is a reasonable guess on an RBOC or a "Netcom" announcement or two.

John and Tek, Thanks for your collective mentions of OCOM. This looks like a very interesting position to hold. One question: Is their technology only useful for "old copper wiring" situations, or is it applicable across other mediums, eg. xDSL as an underlying technology or does xDSL compete with OCOM's technique?

Thanks, Keith

Dear Keith:

I don't know and was hoping that someone over here might be able to shed some light on it. Evidently it works right now at broadcast quality i.e. TV so I guess it is a mater of marketing and really not a techno thing. because if it works over POTS then who cares whether it is XYZ or XSDL. But maybe there is a problem thus the latest weakness in the stock.

Dear Steve:

That article was one of the things that got me interested in the stock.

Thank you,

John,
OCOM is a little behind schedule because they are getting different configuration requests from each of their resellers. Not much downside from this point in my opinion tho because it's so closely held. They have done the hard part..that is getting the video to come thru the single twisted pair copper wire, (already there for POTS) with full motion broadcast TV quality...also can do data at 25 mbps with an ATM interface, and doesn't interrupt POTS while it's happening. Now just have to get the components such as remote access, multipoint (6 way) bridge, etc. fully configured. There is a huge amount of interest in the product from both enterprise and Telco's (carriers) as well as the government. As soon as they have the solution configured and shippable in mass quantity, (and I think they will soon) their sales will bolt quickly to the hundreds of millions, in my opinion. I could give you much more detail, but won't on this thread. Read the OCOM thread for more...I'll update it soon...Tek

Hi Tek-

I appreciate (even if I don't really agree) with your OCOM enthusiam.

But would you and others mind re-routing this discussion to the OCOM thread? Too many stocks to keep up with ON-topic.

Thanks-

Steve

(PS., I'll check for your posts, and contribute some thoughts THERE, fwiw. Post your previous one there for a response)

Dear Tek:

It appears that you and hn (initials) should get together over at OCOM thread. He seems to be quite knowledgeable re: the technical end.
Thank you very much for your insights and the information. Seeing as I seem to gravitate to nothing but tech stocks I enjoy hearing from someone who has a fundamental slant rather than the TA and I told you so pure market approach. Although in the short term the TA's cannot be totally ignored. Thanks again. See you over at the OCOM thread. Long 3000 OCOM.
