It's an upgrade by Goldman Sachs.

from briefing.com:
"CIENA Corp. (CIEN) 54 +2 1/4: Goldman Sachs ups rating on designer of fiber-optic telecommunication networks to a "buy" from a "market outperform" recommendation....."

I think most people participating in this thread know that GS is the underwriting firm...

>>>Manage your own portfolio and don't be influnced by those who are only guessing.<<<

Absolutely great advice. I sold those long shares this morning at 54 1/2, sold the box longs at 55, then rebought at 53 7/8, now boxed again. Goldman is going to sell some shares to Joe Schwab at a higher price, before the onslaught. Careful with that long position. You might at least look into some insurance puts in the next week or two. I don't care what anyone says, 50+ million share suddenly available 8/7 spells s-e-l-l-i-n-g.

FWIW

Barb ... take a look at the all the Form 4's filed for CIEN. All the insiders unloaded at 45 and change and their is no reason to think they won't do it again. Remember the day when 5 million shares traded and the bid asked never flinched from 45-45 1/16? Do you think the hungry hippo that bought all those shares that day may be selling them today?

Thanks and I will watch it. Too many of us and yours truly also have gotten off the merry-go-round too soon only to regret it later. Besides
it's fun to see just how high it will go.

Best of Luck
