>Spending in education is a waste if people can't get jobs in chosen fields. <

Exactly. IT people have no future, because they don't have a union. Even lowly day laborers can at least shut down a job site. But the Nerds have no union. It's a rush to the bottom. The Nerds need muscle (hackers?).

I strongly believe in a liberal education. The focus of education should not be solely the learning of a trade, but also more generally learning to think. That helps with the problem you identify, because it allows more job mobility.

JMHO.

<<The best time to buy a house is when interest rates are very high>>

You are absolutely correct. Once mortgage rates stabalize to their norm, housing prices will establish a new norm off of their peak.

Hi Charles,

There are many benefits, other than money, that outsourcing of jobs will make happen. The cream will rise to the top and the consultants that are on the top of their profession will demand and get better wages than those with less glowing resumes. You might be able to work for a couple of companies at the same time from different geographic regions. You say the pay is going to go down. I contend that if you run your business correctly, with all the deductions, you should come out ahead.

Hi There,

I think Bush is a man of his word and that is a quality that is rare these days. Intelligence is a funny thing. Most "crazy" people are highly intelligent. Just look at the past president. He was a little nutty. I look for people with common sense and I think GWB has that.

It would be great if the profs would teach both liberal and conservatives views to help the students learn to think.

Charles, I couldn't agree more. What troubles me is how professors appear to be teaching less and propagandizing more. A student raises questions that oppose the view of the professor at their own academic peril. It's almost cult-like when a student is ridiculed or demeaned for raising a counter-point. Unfortunately much of higher learning is NOT "let me present multiple views as intellectually honest as possible (with support and opposition fully disclosed) and you figure it out."
