Ron,

Had to change the symbols to @@spc and @@scc for BMI datafeed. Please review synthetic symbol settings. I'm using k1=1.000; Symbol A=@@spc; Sym-A Price Field = L and Operator = -. K2 stettings are same except for symbol @@scc. Are these the settings you're using? What are these two symbols?

I'm running LiveWire on a Micron "dual" 200mhz processor machine with 128megs ram running under Windows NT 4.0 along with several other programs.

Bill,

Your way ahaed of me on equipt sounds like, I just installed
windows NT 4.0 inorder to be able to work with VB5.0 and a
couple other programing packages.

DTN list the @scc as CBOE CALLS INDEX

@SPC AS CBOE PUTS INDEX

But through watching them they move inverse with the market,
subtracting the call side from the put side makes it move or
lead the major trend in the market.

BTW do you use the Cablesoft BBS any ??

Thanks Ron, appreciate the info. Been a long time since I've used LW's BBS. Any activity there?

Have been testing the new TechniFilter 32-bit version (now officially released) and can't believe the speed they've achieved running dual processors under NT. Most extreme case is 13 times faster than DOS version. What once required 3 hours and thirty minutes plus now takes just 31 minutes and 40 secs to run 66 reports on a database of 3,100 stocks. Fastest report takes only 6 seconds. Course LW's no slouch either. Speeds were noticably slower when runnning a single processor and slower yet under Win95. But in all cases they beat pants off DOS version. Have you ever seen TechniFilter Plus?

Bill

Bill,

I was just looking at my sync sybl using the @scc & @spc and in your discription of your formula you said you use L for the price field and you should have used <T> for the last price. If you use the L you are using the low of the day I think. I never tried using the Lows, bet it looked funny.

Check the mail, should have one from me.

Havent see the program you mention, sounds like the speed is outstanding. I'M just get started using NT 4.0 sounds like that might be the way to go.

Bill,
I want to be able to screen several hundred stocks around 3:00 during the market, and have them give me a list of stocks that meet criteria based on
RSI
%R
Bollinger bands..
+_DMI

can Livewire do this when connected to a real time feed? (DTN)
Going to Livewires home page, %R is one of the studies listed, but you said it can not do this? Also is Livewire a DOS program?

John,

LiveWire is currently a DOS based program. Think it has all the indicators you list. However, the confusion stems from the fact that only certain of these indicators can be used with LW's real-time filter. The following indicators are the only ones that can be used to scan LW's database in real-time: Price Movement, Moving Average, +/-DI, Macd, Price Range, Price Breakout, Volume Movement, RSI, Stochastic %D, Money Flow, Moving Avg Diff and Momentum. The filter will accept up to five indicators at any one time. It appears that RSI is the only indicator that meets your scan needs.

Hi Bill,

I seem to be following you everywhere! I have the exact problem that you described: the fact that TradeStation can't be used to scan the database in real time. A call Omega Tech Support confirmed that. Of course, they say the new version will address this problem.

Anyway, recalling what you said about the real time scanning capability of LiveWire, I finally decided to look into it. I haven't use a DOS program for a long time, but in this case it seems LW is the best tool for the task at hand.

My question regarding the LW are as follows:

- is the BMI datafeed shared by LW and TS, or do I need to get a seperate feed for each?
- can custom indicators like BNS or DNS be used in the scan?
- can the same result be achieved with SuperChartsRT ChartScanner running on a seperate PC? (with the same BMI feed, hopefully...)

As usual, your comments and insights are much appreciated.

Regards,
Jerry

Jerry,

Custom indicators like BNS and DNS can not be used with LiveWire. It's just not designed for that purpose. Not really familiar with SuperCharts RT but am certain you would encounter same problem with data loss as with TradeStation when running ChartScanner. You might consider LW for real-time or 15-min delayed and SuperCharts end-of-day for your custom formula needs. Would make a good combination and you'd have best of both worlds. BMI datafeed can be split but may present legal problems with exchanges.

Best of luck,
Bill

Hi Bill,

I just got an e-mail from Robert at LiveWire, and he said there is a LiveWire Trader coming out that will do real time scanning with custom indicators. Are you on the beta for that?

Thanks,
Jerry
