I am quite certain that the consumer portable was not shown (in private or otherwise) at the analyst meeting. Analysts obviously wanted to learn more about it there but it really wasn't the forum that kind of selective disclosure. After all, it really isn't fair for investment analysts to get to see it before the rest of us.

When the time is right Apple will make it public. Aside from the fact that Apple wants to keep its competitors from knowing details about future products, it also want to generate media attention. The last thing they want to do is show it privately to analysts and let the stuff leak out into the media just a few weeks before the expected product launch. NDA or not, had they showed the consumer at the analyst meeting you can be sure that everyone and their mother will know what the consumer portable looks like.
