SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 17, 1998 . . . IBM's OEM Magnetoresistive (MR) Head business today announced it has shipped more than 50 million MR
heads and 2.5 million giant magnetoresistive (GMR) heads since
the inception of the business in late 1996. According to market research firm, TrendFOCUS, IBM has shipped more GMR heads than any other company. This is based on the number of GMR heads IBM has
shipped through both its hard drive and OEM MR Head
