|The Nissan charger only supplies 20 amps in spite of the fact a 220 volt NEMA 14-50 outlet is rated for 50 amps. With a 20% safety margin the product should be designed to draw 40 amps.|
Tesla also includes a NEMA 5-15 for 110 volt for very slow 15 amp charging even slower than the LEAF, and also a NEMA 14-50 for 220 volt.
By code and common sense power mains supplying more than 50 amps have to be hardwired without a detachable plug. This is the reason for the Tesla wall connector which supplies up to 72 amps, which requires a 90 amp breaker. The wall mount is the lower photo.
