So i pulled this together in response to a question on the Income Investing thread - and figured I would share it here as well just to take stock of where things are at at year-end

Damn, this was a lot of work for a Saturday - lol. Luckily it is cold and snowy so . . .

I have a lot of holdings - as I like to be diversified. I should add I am holding a fair amount of cash in both - around 7% in taxable and 12% in tax deferred

Taxable account:

43 Holdings
4.06 average current yield
17 Preferred Stocks
19 Common Stocks
4 CEFs
3 Mutual Funds
No K-1 holdings in here
Only one position, a long term holding International growth mutual fund, does not pay a regular dividend

Five largest
LMT 7.6% - Grew into this from long term growth
GATEX 5.8% - Long term conservative holding
CINF 4.6% - Grew into this from long term growth
HYD 3.6% - Added this year for some High Yield bond exposure

all others between 1% and 3% - usually start a position at 1.2% and either let it grow or add from there unless I have strong convictions

Tax Deferred account

94 Holdings
4.18 average current yield
8 Preferred Stocks
76 Common Stocks (including a number of REITS and MLPs)
7 CEFs / ETFs
3 Mutual Funds
Only two holdings pay no dividends - TIS which you are all aware of and LNG which is my speculative holding since mid 2016 .

Five largest

PRPFX 3.4% - Long term hedge type holding
PONDX 2.7% - Added this year
DWDP 2.2% - held Dow and Dupont individually til they merged into DWDP
TRTN 2.0% - This was a merger of TAL and TRTN someone (i think EKS) posted in another thread I follow. I have not owned it for a long period of time but it has grew from a 0.7% position into this over the past 18 months or so
INGR 2.0% - Long term holding that grew into this size

Everything else is under 2% usually start a position at half a percent and either let it grow or add from there unless I have strong convictions.
