MU CC: Plenty O demand to sop up 40-50% NAND bit increase...................
"a 40% to 50% bit growth range for next year it doesn't cause us undue concern based on everything that we can see."
RegFD Micron CEO to mug'um strongly contort n distort shill, josh more:
What me worry?
Facts from a RegFD CEO right in the middle of supply/demand scene. Not some contort n distort shill.
You do, but I think one of the things that is different about this SSD opportunity is you have a huge substitute -- substitution market that's available. We have seen density not increasing in client drives presumably as a result of the pricing environment. But guess what, if there's a – if there is some relief on the pricing side it's reasonable to expect that that's going to continue to tick up, attach rates will continue to tick up. So it's not as if you don't have ready markets for this output under the right circumstances.
And so there will be and – you know, listen we don't – we’re not in the business of forecasting pricing but there will be opportunity for increased demand that is associated with any marginal change in price. And I think that that pool of demand is large enough that given a 40% to 50% bit growth range for next year it doesn't cause us undue concern based on everything that we can see. And again I would remind everyone with the cost reduction that would typically be associated with a 40% to 50% bit growth here, it's a rather substantial cost reduction and I'm speaking for the industry not only for Micron.
