| Gothenburg electric buses to use ABB 450 kW fast charging|

The Swedish city of Gothenburg will use ABB’s 450 kW Opportunity Charging (OppCharge) system to power two new electric buses.
OppCharge is an open charging interface that can be used by any manufacturer. It uses an automated pantograph on the charging infrastructure to connect the bus to the charging point.
Due for delivery in spring 2018, two ABB fast chargers will be installed along a line of Gothenburg’s bus network, on which two prototype Volvo electric articulated buses will operate. The order comes after a successful two-year trial during which the city operated 10 electrified buses.
“The fact that the chargers operate so quickly is vital for keeping traffic moving and for increasing the capacity of the network,” said Fredrik Persson, Project Manager at electric utility Göteborg Energi. “The efficiency of ABB’s new charging stations in combination with their high performance is the key to the concept.”
