Good News? Samsung M&A plans include "networking, data transmission" per Reuters

It says: business software, and Samsung has a portfolio of SoC's based on ARMH-IP so this may just mean they are one more firm seeking to enter the Device Management business to broaden their NOC portfolio. Digital dust is gaining value just as bitcoin is. Neither would seem to be wealth makers except to off-book activities, but that's the world we live in now. Your personal 'dust' has value. :sheesh:

The reason I find this news bit worth posting is to note Samsung is publicly announcing M&A plans; and while that might be obvious to industry watchers, it highlights the trend for consolidation and scale I have been posting about for over a year on the M2M IoT sector. There was another recent piece from China that was approved by State Editors announcing another round of funds for Acquisitions including the statement: Western tech is still ahead in M2M IoT.

DECEMBER 1, 2017 Samsung to chase big M&A deals on three fronts, says strategy chief HELSINKI (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics’ $8 billion purchase of automotive and audio electronics company Harman has given the technology conglomerate confidence to chase more big deals, its strategy chief said on Friday.... Finally, in business software, he said Samsung is looking at companies in the areas of industrial internet, automation, networking, data transmission and security. “We are a very careful and conservative company, so we will do it where it makes sense,” Sohn said, adding that it would also look for smaller bolt-on technology deals.
