|By the way, Kyle Bennett's take on RTG last year is well worth a re-read in light of history:|
Are we looking at a culture change at RTG now? I guess Lisa Su at least wants them to adopt her execution and marketing style; ambitious targets, but conservative promises and on-time delivery, with a solid roadmap that instils trust. Reportedly, in addition to take the interim lead, she has put Plummer and Naffziger on the case.
"The general feeling, after speaking to sources, is that AMD wants to replicate the technology leadership, execution strategy and cost/manufacturing efficiencies most recently exhibited by the full-scale Ryzen and Epyc CPU launch - key metrics that appear to have been missed by RTG. We know this because key personnel driving the underlying Zen CPU architecture are being tasked to bring the same clarity of vision and execution to RTG. In particular, Sam Naffziger, Corporate Fellow, and Suzanne Plummer, Zen CPU Design Director, are taking roles within RTG, with Sam doing 'double duty' as he'll still be a part of CTO Mark Papermaster's team."
I hope they will, contrary to Bennett's assertions, rekindle the focus on HSA — "The Future is Fusion", as Dirk Meyer liked to say.
