|I still get a chuckle out of the RaPower3 ProBoards forum. Those guys are clueless.|
They provide a link to their forum on the top of RaPower3.com pages, but they require people to register before they can read it. Most people are reluctant to register for a forum because they have to provide their email address. They certainly don't want more junk mail in their inbox.
So, what happens is that people who heard about RaPower3 and want to follow up on it, find a reference to a forum, then link to it to read about RaPower3 ... just like they can with tons of other forums around the web.
But, what they get is a daunting "register or else" page. They quickly get off that page, then go find some other company to research.
As a result, the RaPower3 guys are missing out on who-knows-how-many marketing opportunities.
Which is pretty funny to me, because "marketing" is what they use to justify the tax credit for buying lenses.
What they *should* do is make reading available to everybody, and require registering to post ... just like tons of other forums around the web -- including this one, Yahoo, RagingBull (before it died), etc..
That way they could control the content of the posts while still benefitting from the marketing opportunities provided by people researching the company.
Those guys need a "Marketing 101" class.
Which brings me right back to their claims that "marketing" justifies tax credits. LOL !!
Thanks for the chuckles, guys.
Sure is a pretty day.
