Listened carefully to the french interview with Richard Boudreault .

Some valuable points were highlighted by RB which were not always mentioned again in the english interview .

1) Orbite produces aluminiumchloride at a purity of >99.9995% ( or 5.5N ) before the calcination process
2) impurities entered are "contact" impurities and therefore a supplementary equipment avoiding contact impurities is ordered which will be installed in a few months time
3) the SGA plant and feasibility study will only start when they have a financing partner
4) the red mud remediation plant of Veolia will be in Europe/Middle-East or Asia . Selection by Veolia largely depending on the economical advantage ( show case ) . Plant will be a 1 Million tons / year plant
5) deal with Rusal close to being finalised - only some governmental issues to be covered . Finalising discussions this month , could also be next month

Personal comments :
1) Means that Orbite has realized to unlock completely the crystal structure of the clay the so that all the different oxides can be selectively separated . This is quite an achievement if you go through the different technical literature on those topics and illustrates Orbite has a good grip on the crystallization processes which they stressed themselves as being prime for success
Having <5 pmm impurities in the Al is also important for sapphire LED production as Fe ,Ti and combinations thereof are the most important impurities as far as colouration is concerned
2) the acid recovery was not mentioned as the source for the contamination on the other hand "contact" impurities was mentioned . Wear impurities ( and specifically silica ) have been an issue for Sumitomo in the past before they changed completely their process . The first part of the Harper equipment consists of a glass tube ( drying/precalcination step) the second part consists of an aluminium tube ( a-alumina calcination step) so impurities Orbite is confronted with is most probably also silica .
The reason why sapphire production is asking for 4.5N and preferably 5N or more is that the impurities in the sapphire production lead to locally undiserable liquid phases . Silica is also working negatively but specifically in combination with other impurities such as calcium, sodium and others which at lower levels as silica work promote liquid phases and as such work against perfect sapphire crystal growth
It is well possible that with present silica contamination a 4.5N of Orbite is performance wise close to the performance of a 5N competitive product .
RB was talking about a supplementary equipment (Outotec ?) not a replacement equipment => Harper kiln in conjunction with Outotec ?.
As highest profitability in HPA lies in providing material for sapphire production it is key that Orbite solves the contact erosion problem but ... as far as HPA quality is concerned this seems to be the only major hurdle
