Staff is required, space is required, patient is sedated which requires some form of anesthesia plus the ability to treat cardiac/respiratory arrest caused by sedation... You don't need to be sedated for a colonscopy? I never was. It was a doc and a nurse and they stuck a light up my ass and the doc said: "clean as a whistle" and that was that. It took about 30 minutes. I had it done several times. We should have free public medical schools, or at least affordable and a way to pay it off with communty service. Why not? And we have 10 qualified students that want to go to medical school for every available spot. If we need more docs to bring costs down then we should build more medical school. How many medical schools could we have build with the 5 trillion bush pissed away. Enough to provide all the docs we need for a long time and done it for free. And all the docs I know make enough money to by million dollar houses. Our social systems are stupid, IMO. the very idea we do not have universal health carw or that Ryan wants to put medicare on a voucher system is just plain nuts. Medicare can be fixed easily if we tried.
