One just has to keep in mind when I argue against Krugman that he wanted a stimulus plan three times as big as the one Obama put in place. I'm also of the mind that the damage done was done under Bush/Greenspan. The size of government exploded under Bush; the wars did that and so did the great big new government agency Homeland Security. I believe it will take decades to unravel the entire mess - although I've seen hints that things are better than I believe most people think. (Secret; the big big lumber mill in my hometown is producing again like crazy - and most importantly, it's for our market!).
