I got my free Blue John Tavares NHL (Reebock) Jersey last night and got a picture with him, which the Islanders put in a cheap frame. I told John he has to teach his other teammates the courage to win. I said Leadership is an intangible quality, but once you acquire it, it never leaves you. I was sort of expecting a rich young snot nose superstar who would just put up with my words. However, Tavares, listened very carefully and intensely to me. I said the team has the ability, and just has to learn how to finish and believe in themselves. He said, "you are right". Tavares is very humble, intense, and a bit shy. At the end, I told him I've been all over his country and love Canada. (I wasn't being nice, just honest.) He said, "that means a lot to me".
