A wery interesting development.

However, I don't think x86 has a great future in low power mobile. That future looks more like this to me:

MediaTek hikes 2012 target smartphone chip shipments
Cage Chao, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 1 August 2012]
IC design house MediaTek, in view of strong demand in the China market, expects to ship 30 million smartphone chips in the third quarter, and accordingly has upward adjusted its target shipments for 2012 from 75 million units to 90 million, the company said at a July 31 investors conference.

MediaTek expects its consolidated revenues for the third quarter to grow 13-18% sequentially to NT$26.5-27.7 billion (US$883-923 million), and corresponding gross margin to reach 41-43%. The company expects its MT6575 and MT6577 chips to account for 60% of total smartphone chips sales in the third quarter and 80% in the fourth.

Intel won't even be able to garner 15M smartphone chips in 2012, which is the upward revised delta for MediaTek. It would be a wet dream to actually get 90M for Intel.

Of course the above is not good news for Qualcomm, TI, etc either. The eastward (and ARMward) shift of mobile SOC design and manufacturing continues.
