What's with this hand sign by celebrities and politicians? I mean, what's in common with these people except they're famous? It's such a strange gesture. Wiki says it can mean different things in different cultures but the article doesn't answer my questions completely. Kids at rock concerts do it en masse, I get that, but why do our politicians use it to crowds or even our celebrities? It's not well-used or known in the American population. If someone greeted me with it, I'd have no idea how they want me to take it. In fact, no one ever has. There are foreign politicians using it too. I'm posting so many to show it's more than inadvertent.
