Too bad you can't measure subsurface temperatures with satellite photos. Those are ALL debris flow until proven otherwise by borehole temperature profile during summer season.

Regarding Mendoza data not relevant to San Juan. Mendoza is province immediately south of San Juan so I think climate is colder and the 3700M lower limit for permaforst conditions would be a reasonable approximation for San Juan. As for shade at Los Azules, I don't see any Everest type shading. There will be the shade as the sun sets and that's about it. I think adiabatic flows would have bigger influences on air temp then shading given the pictures you are showing.
