The headlines were deceptive, that Nokia cuts price of Lumia by half, when they cut the subsidized price of $99.99 in half to $49.99. There is a difference. But traders ignored it.
Of course you're correct that the per unit hit to Nokia is less than it would be if they had cut their unsubsudized price by half. But I think the important point, and what traders are reacting to, is that the price cut is an indication of poor sales. Or should I say, yet another indication.
