Listen Canada: US will not need to import any crude within two decades

Canadian energy market diversification, especially to Europe and the Pacific Rim, is not in America's interest. If the Canadian Energy Sector can be kept captive, a shrinking market for Canadian natural gas and oil will create opportunities for US companies to buy up energy assets for 5-10 cents on the dollar, further strengthening US energy independence. Considering the major role of the energy sector in the Canadian economy, an ever weakening Canadian energy sector will make the Canadian gov't more pliant to US foreign and North American policy. Unfortunately for Canada, Prime Minister Harper kowtows to the White House.
