<I ran into a MIT professor lipid guru at a party - he seemed high on the Merck compound.>

For Merck to move forward with their compound, It should have pretty good drug poperties. We shall see.

However, the Merck drug Emend (NK-1 receptor antagonist) does not have the best drug properties and has weak solubility, and it has made it across the FDA goal line for the treatment of CINV, chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting. That treatment paradigm is acute however, so somewhat of a horse of a different color. A know a nurse that works in a onco clinic and she said that they are really happy with the results with Emend. It is an IV drug, at least as used there. I do have a bit of an affection for NK-1 receptor antagonists, as it is a peptide hormone receptor that I have had some prior research experience. Nonetheless, it bombed as a target for clinical depression, and for inflammatory pain. .
