Is there a too much in exercise?

The article says there may be

Perhaps heart failure under high stress is not predictable. It is like chaos, or is controlled by elements of chaos theory. So many chance events seem to defy easy Laplacian predictability. This seems to suggest that trying to control factors that may exacerbate or lead to the condition may be fruitless. But I would aver that perhaps not. It puts you in different level of chaos if you can achieve it, so perhaps different outcomes.

Things to check for are obviously pre diabetic condition, tiredness, levels of training stress, muscle fibrosis, resting heart rhythms and changes thereof, Temperature etc. The idea that cold temps can lead to excess stress on the heart is not borne out by the cross country skier's experience where death is fairly uncommon and many skiers compete in ultra competitions to advanced age. This could be for two reasons. Overheating is rare, and the cross country skier can slow down with every step and glide. The resting stroke so to speak is perhaps valuable in relieving stress. Dehydration and heat however kill lots of people from army camps to football fields to illegal border crossers. Marathon runners or no.

One part of the true equation seems to be missing. His medical history. he was fainting or getting dizzy before this last run, for a few weeks. His girlfriend indicated that. Also his complexion from my point of view was remarkably pale. A sign of lack of circulation? Diabetic condition? Doesn't seem right for a guy who ran 50 miles at times. But ...

We may never know.
