He is extrapolating on what the various warnings mean for European sales. Tough to make much of a read on RIMM or Nokia, but the warning by HTC was surprising. The HTC One X and One S are very competitive handsets....either Samsung or Apple have increased their domination in Q2 or handset sales in Europe really did have a meaningful decline.
