I have just a few applications which do not run on Linux (Quicken, Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop). When I heard about Win8, I was chagrined and thought it would be the 'end of the line' for windows.

I recently installed Office 2010 on a few computers. I've been shocked to see that POS crash time and time again. Simply appalling, and difficult and unwieldy to use. I greatly prefer the interface and stability of OpenOffice. It's free, and it doesn't crash, and I can run it on Linux, too.

Now if Adobe would stop taking kickbacks or whatever is preventing them from the simply port to Linux...

I'm still running XP on a few computers. I could see running Win7 until well past 2020. By then I could switch everything to Linux.
