They know that developer attention has shifted to iOS/Android bigtime.
Exactly the problem. The vast majority of hot software development has shifted from Windows. Whether MS can get some shift back with Metro remains to be seen.
Just wait until the platform is HTML5, and MS's nightmare of the browser fully decoupling applications from the OS is finally realized.
