They can't go on a gold standard.

A. There's a pretty good chance their reserves are just more paper entries in a ledger or borrowed from another bank. "Deep storage."

B. They'd have to rein in their deficits to maintain a stable gold price. This is not the pattern of end of empires.

And Canada? Yeah, we suck.
