It seems to me that if you don't get a hearing aid you will become more isolated because you cannot interact with people, at least in real life.

I know a couple of men with hearing aids whose opinion I respect. I will ask them what they use and report back to you -- probably take a couple of weeks, one I can call on the phone (my uncle), one I only see in court (a lawyer). The lawyer is in court all the time so I think he probably uses a very good one, but he only uses it in one ear, and if you talk in his "bad" ear he really can't hear you.

My uncle is a rich old retired dentist, he has them in both ears.

I expect they are not cheap, but I would not let that stop me from being able to talk to people, and hear them talk back. I love to have conversation.
