Bright ideas & new discoveries are such that they lead to benefit & one of the earliest & greatest would have been the ability to create fire & tend fire . Later tool & weapon creation for hunting, growing food, building , pottery ,weaving, and the later skillsets help men form settlements growing into civilizations. Then the accompanying layered social stratus & developing complexity of social structures & interaction . With later interaction between tribes & other cultures comes increased ability to express more thoughts & newer ideas & we see that expansion of linguistic capability enlarging man's sphere of experience exponentially & ability to image things not immediate but represented & conveyed in the forms of speech . (later writing)
But looking back to earliest man who mastered fire which must have involved the friction technique of rubbing one harder stick against a softer one, then capturing that 1rst ember tapped over into a small basket of tindling, then that must be nurtured with soft "breath" of the "creator" . Must have been a powerful feeling to have mastered originally & be able to give birth to protective fire , this i was just thinking could be the original image of that "breath of God" that gives spark to life in the world . When watching the primitive tribesman create fire this way the metaphor becomes plainly obvious as once the ember is created it is with swift deftness & quick concentrated skill the breath of the man turns that ember into a burning flame .
With fire comes all things essentially, first piling of stone rings & rudimentary building techniques for encasing the firepit & the ever vital protection it affords , then later applications of fire as a tool from hardening spear tips , cooking & preserving meat, hollowing/burning out various woods for canoes or vessels , pottery making to later heating sand into glass , smelting metal ores giving rise to the copper & bronze ages . Mastery of fire gives rise to civilized man & the rise of cultures from all these benefits thru an incredible process of discovery of its application .
The image of god breathing life into the world , it just struck me might very well have came from that original primitive vital discovery , that delicate technique of breathing on the ember to make fire . When there are no sticks available just rub two Christians together , that is if you can find two that agree ! ;o) |
