Framing done in a subtle manner works far better than what you see that many do and seem to think is framing.
You're not going to frame the pitch 5 inches high or outside. Framing is about catching the ball with a slight wrist movement back towards the plate or back into the strike zone. Its subtle, just a slight wrist flick. Not some arm jerk. It works for those close pitches if done correctly.

Seldom done correctly though.
