I don't get the whole "framing the pitch" argument. I've umpired behind the plate. From that vantage point you form an opinion as you see the ball cross the plate. You don't at all look at where the catcher's mitt ended up. I suppose a catcher that moves his mitt could create an illusion that alters your perception, but I doubt it. The folks that get fooled are usually the ones watching via the center field camera on TV.
