Here is the FDA announcement on the approval:

Talks about taking the pill half an hour ahead of time - presumably that is because all the trials did that. The key for marketing is whether the data about onset of action is in the label.

Here's a nice summary of the trials to date:

Viagra PK varies quite a bit by individual and also by food intake. Stendra should be noticeably quicker for most men.
