Your dad, like most of us, was not aware that Frank picked up the rap from African music via slavery. It's a bit odd to say the rappers got it from him, but normal. Frank, being less racist, than most helped bring that musical thread to the mainstream.

America is the great melting pot. Not perfect, but quite the experiment in mixology.
