During which the Church preserved a lot of history and learning--even thouh a lot was lost.

Yes, that is true, we devolved into a society where illiteracy was common and the monks kept language alive. We became barbarians again. And who's fault was that? Remember Adam got in trouble for eating an apple from the tree of knowledge!!

And free thinking was punishable by death. The church killed all the Socrates.

And compare that to the great ancient Greeks and their level of intellect. The church never produced any people who rose to the civilized level of the entire Greek society in Athens which flourished for centruies.

After Rome destroyed Greece the world went dark for almost 2,000 years. Why wasn't the church able to even rise to the level of the ancient Greeks?

Where is the power of the church to manifest civilzation as they and many claim?
